TCM Element Alignment
- Fire Element — Cinnamon (Rou Gui), Cloves (Ding Xiang), Ginger (Sheng Jiang): In traditional Chinese medicine, the Fire element governs the Heart system and the body’s warmth and Yang energy. These are classic warming Yang herbs in the TCM materia medica, associated with the Heart, Spleen, Stomach, and Kidney systems.
- Earth Element — White Peony (Bai Mu Dan), Fennel (Xiao Hui Xiang), Star Anise (Ba Jiao Hui Xiang), Orange Peel (Chen Pi): The Earth element governs the Spleen-Stomach system. White Peony tea’s gentle, delicate character aligns with Earth’s nourishing quality. Fennel, Star Anise, and Orange Peel are classic Spleen-Stomach herbs in TCM tradition.
- Metal Element — Peppercorns (Hu Jiao), Cardamom (Sha Ren): The Metal element governs the Lung system. Pungent, aromatic spices with an upward-dispersing character align with Metal’s association with the Lung system and the body’s outermost boundary.
