Product Overview

He Shou Wu (Zhi) — also known as Treated Fo-Ti Root — is a traditional botanical widely featured in East Asian herbal traditions and classical wellness preparations.

This prepared form undergoes a traditional steam-treatment process (Zhi), a time-honored preparation method used to deepen the root’s character, color, and richness while creating its signature earthy and mildly sweet profile.

Our Organic Grade He Shou Wu (Zhi) is carefully cultivated without synthetic pesticides or chemical additives and gently processed at low temperatures to preserve its traditional qualities and clean aroma — ideal for teas, decoctions, soups, and wellness-inspired herbal blends.

TCM Element Alignment: Water & Wood

  • Water Element (Kidney): In TCM, He Shou Wu (Zhi) is traditionally associated with the Kidney meridian and the Water element, which governs the body’s deepest reserves of vital essence (Jing), longevity, and foundational energy. The treated (Zhi) form is the classical preparation used in decoction-style formulas within the Water element tradition.
  • Wood Element (Liver): He Shou Wu is also traditionally associated with the Liver meridian in TCM, which governs the smooth flow of Qi and Blood. Its inclusion in classical herbal preparations reflects its long-standing role in the Wood element tradition of East Asian herbal culture.

This product is sold as a raw food-grade botanical ingredient for traditional herbal preparation. It is not intended to convey any health benefit claims.
