Key Ingredients

  • Organic Red Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) — A caffeine-free herbal tea base derived from the Aspalathus linearis shrub native to South Africa, with a naturally sweet, earthy flavor and deep amber color.
  • Organic Hawthorn Leaf & Flower (Crataegus spp. / Shan Zha) — A botanical with a long history of use in traditional European and Chinese herbal preparations, known as Shan Zha in TCM tradition. Hawthorn is one of the most widely used botanicals in the TCM materia medica, associated with the Heart and Spleen systems.
  • Organic Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica / Xun Ma) — A botanical with a long history of use in traditional European and Chinese herbal preparations, known as Xun Ma in TCM tradition. Rich in minerals and widely used in herbal tea formulations.
  • Organic Basil Leaf (Ocimum basilicum / Luo Le) — An aromatic herb with a long history of use in traditional Mediterranean, Ayurvedic, and Chinese wellness preparations, known as Luo Le in TCM tradition.
  • Organic Calendula Petals (Calendula officinalis) — A flowering botanical with a long history of use in traditional European herbal preparations, valued for its warm golden color and gentle aromatic character.
  • Organic Pacific Northwest Honeycrisp Apples & Hood River Valley Bartlett Pears — Locally sourced dried fruit pieces used in tea blending for their crisp, sweet flavor contribution.
  • Organic Cinnamon Chips (Cinnamomum verum / Rou Gui) — A spice with a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine, known as Rou Gui, associated with the Kidney, Spleen, and Heart systems.
  • Organic Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum / Ding Xiang) — A warming spice with a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine, known as Ding Xiang, associated with the Spleen, Stomach, and Kidney systems.
  • Pure Organic Extracts — Organic flavoring extracts used to enhance the aromatic profile of the blend.

TCM Element Alignment

  • Fire Element — Hawthorn (Shan Zha), Cinnamon (Rou Gui), Cloves (Ding Xiang): In traditional Chinese medicine, the Fire element governs the Heart system and the body’s warmth and Yang energy. Hawthorn (Shan Zha) is a classic Heart and Spleen herb in the TCM materia medica. Cinnamon (Rou Gui) and Cloves (Ding Xiang) are classic warming Yang herbs associated with the Heart, Spleen, and Kidney systems.
  • Earth Element — Rooibos, Apples, Pears, Basil (Luo Le), Calendula: The Earth element governs the Spleen-Stomach system and the body’s capacity for nourishment and transformation. Sweet, fruity, and gently aromatic ingredients align with Earth’s sustaining, centering character.
  • Metal Element — Nettle Leaf (Xun Ma): The Metal element governs the Lung system and the body’s outermost boundary. Nettle Leaf’s mineral-rich, clarifying character aligns with Metal’s association with refinement and the skin barrier.

Flavoring Philosophy

Beach House Teas blends are flavored exclusively with pure organic extracts and real food ingredients — spices, herbs, flowers, nuts, and fruits. We do not use synthetic or “natural” flavorings, which can contain undisclosed ingredients. Every flavor in our blends comes from identifiable, organic whole-food sources, resulting in a distinctly fresh taste and aroma.
